You have to love those ears. And the stare makes this image. Combined with the unobtrusive BG, this works exceptionally well to me Stephen.

Hi Stephen, would agree with Robert, but personally I do think it looks a fraction 'saturated'. Also, in dropping the right & mid sliders level in levels (to the left a fraction) it just opens up the face & body a bit more letting more detail to come through IMHO.

An animal I would love to see.

man this is a sweet angle on a rarely seen feline, Stephen!
it does seem to have quite a darker coat than other caracals I have seen? DOF and sharpness are top notch, agree on opening the shadows slightly

Stephen, what an excellent pose. Well done on getting something really nice, despite the techs! I saw a caracal on my recent Mara trip but didn't get one photo I'd be prepared to share here.

Despite the fact that it may be a little darker/saturated than the 'one' cat I saw, I love the almost sculptured way you've shown the animal and it is quite artistic. Did you get any other poses?

Stephen - love the alert look and pose. Cannot comment on the color because I have yet to see a caracal.

Can only echo above comments! Was this guy a little damp from rain ? could be reason for darker coloration ? Top class shot mate

Stephen, who cares about the settings as long as you got the shot, and this certainly seems to be the case...Power portrait of a cat very hard to see, let alone photograph as you have done here. Great job..
the raised paw, the stare, the ears, all first class for me..

A fine sighting. Not sure when I will see a caracal again. Thanks for sharing.

Almost missed this one. This species is very high on my list to photograph but I've never had a chance.. Even with your techs the image is just outstanding. Such soft light. Congrats!
