Default Bald Eagle - Fall Colors

    Attached Images Attached Images

As fall comes to Alaska, the Bald Eagles migrate to the last salmon run of the season.

Does this image work as a vertical?

    Nikon D300, 200mm, 1/50 sec at F/10, Manual Mode.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Nice idea with good detail on the bird...The bird feels a bit lost in the busy predominantly yellow BG

I like the idea too, but with the eagle small in the frame I would have preferred you point the lens higher to place it closer to the LRC. Although I'm sure you stopped down to put the waterfall more into evidence did you also experiment with shallower DOF?

Very nice image and a super composition, I would however have chosen a wider aperture as I think there would still have been a decent impression of the environment. It sounds a little contradictory to say I like to see the background but at the same time I don't want the background to compete for attention.

Yes for me it does. Great environment shot, the water fall in the background keeps the eye little for more.

Very nice! Really like the colors behind the eagle.

Thanks all. Unfortunately I didn't get any shallower shots off before my subject flew off. I was so close, and had to take off my 500mm lens and shoot with a 200mm.

Next time, shallower depth, and a landscape in the set.

    Matt,
One of those images where everything comes together perfectly. Personally agree with Dan on subject placement but still not a deal breaker. excellent image with perfect execution. Calling pose is icing on the cake.
