I created this image with the Canon 800mm and the EOS-1D Mark IV. ISO 400. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +1 stop: 1/8000 sec. at f/8.
This is the full frame original capture with about a 70% Multipy.
Obviously with the +1 EC I was set up for silhouettes in the orange sky.... -3 EC would have resulted in a much better original though the sun would still almost surely have been over-exposed.
Don't be shy; all comments are welcome.
ps: any ideas on how to reduce the banding in post? I sort of like the heavy banding abstract look for this version but realize that there might be another possible version.

because every time the viewer wants to focus on the bird, there is no way the eye cannot also be seeing the bright sun in the background and keep being drawn to it (as bright and contrasty subject attract the eyes more).
