Arash, this is a wonderful shot. Love the line from the beak to the wing tips, the intent expression in the eyes and the water drops take it over the top.

Awesome image! Fantastic pose, perfect sharpness and detail. You did so well with what looks like poor light.

Mate, you nailed it; and, the total stretch tack sharp raises it above the top.

Looking forward to meeting you and shooting at the "usual place".
    Cheers, Jay

Arash, love these guys. Cool landing posture, and I like the extended neck. Good underwing detail, and the falling droplets add interest. Kiler BG.

Btw, I'm going to be in Palo Alto this coming weekend and would love to visit your "usual place" for stilts and avocets. I would really appreciate any pointers on locations for those or any other birds. Thank you.

Thank you all for nice comments, the best place to photograph Avocets in Palo Alto is the PA Baylands park, close to the nature center parking lot.

Thanks for the info, Arash. I have the Baylands Park, poplar beach and half moon bay on my list. The weather forecast doesn't look too great for the weekend, but hopefully I'll have some fun.

I wouldn't go to Poplar beach at this time, there aren't that many raptors active, you might see a few but conditions there are very challenging, especially if it is your first time you won't get much. Go to Mountain View shoreline park instead.
