Here is my first Wheatear encounter of 2008. I was actually lying down trying to capture an image of a Reed bunting calling for a mate, when the Wheatear flew over my head and landed further up the farm track.
Quite a large crop unfortunately and I hope to get closer to them later in the season when they will arrive in larger numbers.
Canon 1dMKIII, 500mm, f5.6. 1/1250. -0.67, ISO400
Comments and feedback welcome.
Thanks
Austin

Hi Austin, Agree with Maxis 100% and would add that the whites are over-exposed. You also might consider toning down your credit line...

The pose is very nice but the image quality suffered with the large crop. Hope you get lots of chances for closer shots as more arrive, and I'll look forward to seeing you post more of these cute birds.
Thanks for your feedback. Large crops lose too much detail.
Maxis, The catchlight is genuine. The sun was fairly low and bright although I had decided it was too harsh to continue photographing the hares that I actually went out to photograph in the early morning sun.
Artie, ISO 400 was a mistake in hindsight. I hadn't adjusted it as the light levels increased and I will tone down the credit line. It is surprising what you dont see when its your own image.
