Alan Murphy pointed this Paraque out to me literally at my feet on one of his South Texas workshops. This bird was at Estero Llano Grande State Park in Westlaco, TX.

Very rich colors on the bird, sharp on eye, striking catchlight, good flash work.
I would probably vignette the lower corners a bit more to reduce the impact of the OOF foreground elements, and to heighten the subtle spotlight effect here.
From a comp standpoint, I wish the bird was back and to the left just a bit, but perhaps not possible with the image you have.
I am guilty of this myself, but with a zoom on, be sure to take several shots looser than how you visualize the final picture in your mind, because often after the fact you will want a slightly different comp, and if really tight, you are out of luck.
Nice find! Very sharp as posted, and well exposed. At 185mm I see you were pretty close...were you able to go in tighter (with perhaps a longer FL lens) to hide the cluttered surroundings?
