Spring is finally coming to London and this week we have had some great weather. Rushed out to Hyde Park this morning for a little bit of photography before work - I was looking for the Tawny Owl chicks but they weren't around. I was however lucky enough to get some time with a beautiful Mandarin drake floating leisurely around the Serpentine.

    Per-Gunnar:

He does indeed seem to be contemplating his own beauty.
The side lighting gives very good definition to his neck feathers, but has left his back a little dark for my tastes. The exposure looks accurate for these conditions.

I might consider a small crop from the left to move him to the left and out of the center of the frame a bit more.

    Cheers

Beautiful duck, and love the lighting on the face and neck feathers (which I love!). The rest of the body isn't as well lit though. HA is looking away, and I too would prefer the duck farther left of the frame - with perhaps a bit more canvas below too.

Beautiful bird, great advice above, head seems a tad soft.

Gorgeous bird, I agree with Randy and Daniel, good suggestions. Also I would perhaps try to sharpen the head just a little more....it looks slightly soft compared to the neck. Probably because he turned slightly away from you.

Real nice photo. I really like the feather detail around the neck. Nice reflection and great water color. I also agree with the advice given above.

I like the reflection, you can see the eye between the ripples. Agree with Daniel also maybe a touch more sharpening
