    Default Nice Catch

I sat by the pond once again today. Not a lot of birds coming close by. So I sat still and waiting patiently. About an hour later, this Great Blue Heron showed up and was fishing in front of me. Not once but TWICE!!! It paid off, I got the images I wanted. Hope you like it!

Beautiful image Troy! The GBH stands out well from the BG. I like the composition, sharpness, details and catch.

Excellent image. Superb use of flash, perfect moment captured, superb bg too.
If anything, I would move him further up in the frame. Well done.

Very cool...I love the double stabbing of the fish (and a great bonus that the fish has its face towards us!!). Wicked BG. My only small suggestion is that I would darken the pupil to all black (except for the pin catchlight at 12 o'clock).

    Way to go man!!

Wonderful! I like the almost square composition, the fine details of the heron's feathers and fish scales, and the lovely background. Worth the wait, I suppose!

I would also move him up a bit, very sharp, like the water drops.

Nice catch by the bird but even better by the shooter.

Outstanding shot Troy. Ruffled neck feathers and that golden background look great. You even nailed the head-angle of the fish!

Wow as everyone has said, great image. Wonderful background, great detail, double stab on that poor little fish not to mention his great last expression. Love it.

Thank you all. I fixed the eye and moved the bird up just a bit. Is it better?

Nice image Troy, I do like the repost with the repaired eye. It looks better, it was a tad cloudy in the first. I also like the double stab as Dan pointed out.

Troy, I love your butterscotch BG! This crop pleases me more than your vertical crop in the other thread.
