    Absolutely perfect!

No one uses spot metering like you do to arrive at perfect exposures every time.

I think you should come on down to Australia and do some workshops .

    Jay,

Others have asked I do the same. Get some more mates interested and I will see what I can do in 2012.

Spot is very predictable and extremely accurate once you understand how it works and you develop a reference file in your mind. It eliminates the variables associated with subject size and tonal value relative to the background.

    Chas:

This is an excellent choice for the straight down the barrel theme, whether intentional or not.

Imperious looking, excellent techs, perfect amount of detail in snow for my tastes.

Are you using the cameras meter, or a handheld meter to do your spot metering?

    Cheers

I almost always use the in-camera spot meter for wildlife. I used the handheld spot meter more for flash work, but I now find the FEL in-camera spot for flash works very well.

I guess a bit more light on left side would have been nice but this sure is a winner.

More light on the left means less detail in the snow and feathers.
