    The attempt was to use fill flash sparingly so as not to wash out the purple reflection in lower part of the compound eyes of the bumblebee while providing some detail of the face. Prior to digital, I could never get good detail in the black features of bumblebees with film.

    Canon 180 mm f/3.5 macro lens + 1.4X TC and EOS 20D; ISO 400; AV, Evaluative metering =0; 1/125s at f10; Canon T24 twin flash at -2 1/3; tripod

    Great colors, framing and the comp is very cool and different. Works well for me.

    I think some mild USM would look good on the BB's head and face.
