    Default Red Crossbill

Taken a couple of years ago, a Common (Red) Crossbill near my apartment.

    Any comments welcome.

This is cropped, about 60% of the original remains (so a 40% crop?). I used a Canon 400D and 100-400L. 1/800 at F8, ISO 400. AV mode with -2/3 EC.

Nice comp and pose. Gettin the pine cone in the image is a plus. Some fill flash would have improved this image with the contrasty light.

Thanks for the reply Alan. Must admit I almost never use flash, the results always look a tad artificial to my eyes, perhaps I should give it a try more often though..........
