Unfortunately light angle not ideal thus shadow rt side of face.
Unsure about crop ? more or less. Original has the entire bird but legs are cut off ,standing in grass. Suggestions welcome. :

You have a lovely soft BG and great details in the feathers. Not sure the crop works for me but without seeing the original, not sure what advice to offer.

I think your horizon may be off. Your eye are not even and the beach BG is slightly slanted. I took it into PS and looked better with some slight CW rotation.

Photographed a RE in breeding plumage this week at DeSoto, and it was a treat just watching it dance...not easy to capture either.

Ray, good job finding an image for the theme. Aside from that though, I do not feel that this image is particularly pleasing to the viewer. The bird's body looks huge, the head small and eyes buggy, and cut off legs not so good....but my opinion only here. There is a humorous feel to it. And your skill in capturing it is not in question.

thanks for the suggestions and observations

Good eye Marina, for cw rotation.

I agree with Grace, Ialso don't really like the image because of the apparent disproportionate small head, but posted it for the theme and to see what I might learn from others.

    Thanks

Hey, Ray this is cool! I really like the sharpness and DOF! The rotation looks fine to me, I don't buy the idea that birds eyes are always perfectly level to the earth! And, with this guys right eye looking at us and the left one looking off, he is obviously capable of "looking around" so the unlevelness fits IMHO!

BTW, did you get your stuff repaired?
