I think I would take some off the left side and add some canvas to the right if possible. HA would be nicer if turned a bit more towards the sensor. Seems to be fairly sharp and exposed well.
It's helpful if you include your exif and a description of any major pp steps with the image, so we can more constructively offer feedback (and learn from your settings or processing, in many cases).
I like the water plume behind the bird, and therefore wouldn't crop the left at all in this case.
Water seems a bit dark to me, but that may be my monitor, because the bird exposure looks good.
Cody: My reason for cropping the image like that is because i like the water behind the bird. If i left the water and give more space in the front, the bird would be in the middle. I agree on the angle of the head
Allen: No major photoshop, only crop, sharpening and shadows and highlights.
Lovely image, Pierre! It's a good thing you had that high ss or you'd have missed this for sure...he really looks like he's on the move! Excellent wave/water action - for that reason I'd leave the crop/comp as is so you get the best of both. Only thing missing is a stronger HA as others have mentioned. If you have CS5 you might want to try that puppet warp feature and see if you can bring his head parallel to the sensor...
Nice action moment captured, the bird look sharp with good details. The food in the beak really add to the image. I'm fine with the current crop as it help me focus on both the wave (which look really nice) and the bird. HA already mentioned, as for me I might try to crop a little more off the bottom and see how it looks.
This is a really cool image. Nice warm light and relatively sharp. Agree with head angle comments. Ditto on needing the EXIF info to fully understand what you did. I guess the bird is landing?
Nicely timed image Pierre with good detail and lovely light. Pano crop works well with this image. I might consider Thanaboon's suggestion of moving the bird down in the frame by cropping from the bottom and adding to the top as an alternative. Love the texture and visual of the wave.
Thanks for comments and advise everyone.
Julie: Not that clued up with the warp tool but i will play around.
Thanaboon + Pieter: Will play with the crop and see how it comes out.
Pieter: The grebe was catching food and run back to the little ones to feed them when i caught it
