Saw this hawk while I was walking back to my car and slowly approached him/her. He/she landed on a spot light (use to light up the oak tree at night), thus not the full body shot. Wish it was on a natural perch.
Also, I could not be sure what kind of hawk this is, please help!

    Hope you like it.

Hard to say what kind unless you specified how large it is.
Crow sized, a Sharp Shinned but in Florida it could be a Broad Shouldered hawk.
Larger than that, probably a Cooper's Hawk.
I am not a big fan of the Yellow BG.
I like the pose of the bird a lot.

It's definitely not a Coopers hawk or Sharp-shinned. I've never seen a Red-Shouldered hawk in person but I believe that is a first year RSH.

Brown eyes tell me this is a young (not sure the year) Red-shouldered Hawk as I learned on here from a member when I posted an image of what I thought was a young Red-tailed Hawk.

I like the pose and head angle but the bg seems to overpower the image.

Troy, nice pose. BG is nice but a little too bright. A tad more sharpening will help. I also think its a juvie red shouldered. Why don't you post it in the ID forum. juvie red-tails have light iris.

Nice image Troy! I like the pose and HA. Another vote for toning down the BG.

I will work on the BG more later tonight. I just cropped and applied sharpening. Thanks all.

I darkened the BG just like most suggested which reflects a more accurate light of the time of the day I shot it. Darkened and layer masked.

Troy I think the BG is lovely. This is a beautiful bird.

The side of the face that is showing seems a bit on the dark side - was the light was coming from the other direction?

    Charles,
The light was coming from my the right side but was hitting the ground, which was the BG.
He/She was sitting on a lamp and I was shooting down, thus getting the BG from the being lit up by the evening light. I used flash as fill, should have gone 1/3 - 2/3 more output.
