Hi Leo. Excellent flight pose! I have trouble with the similarity of the bright bird to the BG but, frankly, I'm not good enough at PS to fix it. I think lightening up the BG would make the bird stand out better. As it stands, he sort of gets lost in brown-on-brown. You've also lost detail on the eagle's breast and the underside of the primaries and a bit of fill-light might have helped there.

Hi Leo- Big welcome to BPN! You have a beautiful landing pose with this Bald Eagle. I love the warm tones of the background which are very sympathetic to the subject. Love the "intent" in the eye.

A couple of things jump out at me with the image. I think it could use another round of sharpening, and although I like the idea of giving lots of room in the direction of implied movement, I think in this case it could be overdone. I've had a quick go at the image here to show you what I'm thinking. I also lightened up the belly of the bird a little to bring out the detail- I just used the dodge tool in Photoshop.

By the way we really encourage posters to comment on other images. We are interested in what you like and don't like about a particular image. Don't be shy. It's a great learning experience.

Leo, what a beautiful eagle portrait! I like what John did - I think I'd take that BG even further, lightening it to keep it from blending in and then probably adding some gaussian blur so it really separates the bird from the BG. John really brought out a lot more detail than your original which leads me to believe it might have been underexposed to start with. It's hard when you have such deep colors and white whites on one bird but it's great to practice when you get opportunities like this one. I think you did really well over all - just need to make those tweaks in pp.

Wow John, I'm overwhelmed with your rendition of " The Eagle is Landing " To think that this much detail was brought out using a jpeg rather than my RAW file is something I didn't even know was possible. Thank you very much.... I'm in seventh heaven right now... in fact Leo hasn't landed yet.

Very nice landing pose, I like the gliding wing span and the determination look on the eagle. I also like how I can tell there are trees in the background without taking my attention away from the bird. I also like what John did with the re-post.

    Welcome to BPN.

Great capture. I'd be proud to have taken this image.

I agree with John and I like what he did to bring out the hidden detail. Just because we're shooting 'digital' doesn't mean we can't use the old darkroom tricks of dodge and burn.

I would probably dodge the entire BG to help your eagle stand out a bit more.

    Love this image.

very nice! I like the pose of the eagle very much. Makes me want to see the next few frames to see what he landed on...
