    Default Last Light Spoonbill

From my just completed tour to Florida. The last afternoon for my clients and me on the Hooptie Deaux and James. We were all on the boat as the tide was high.... so I mounted the Sigmonster onto the tripod and wimberly for some flight images off the boat! The higher position allowed me to concentrate on the birds as they flew off against the water as a BG.

If you can't make either of my tours next year.....I highly recommend that you spend at least a few days with James on the boat for some great spoonbill action!

Canon 1D Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800 tripod mounted w/ wimberly head on boat deck at 501mm for 1/2500 sec. at f7.1 and ISO 800. NR run on BG in PP'ing.

Hey Roman, you have absolutely nailed this one - one of your best IMHO. Great flight posture, well exposed, sharp, and just love the eye contact. Did I mention that the colours rock. Congrats.

    Roman:

I am thinking that shooting off the boat for flying pictures isn't a bad idea, gives a different look for sure.

    Thanks for showing the way!

Thanks all! I have been on the deck before for this angle.......everyone needs to be pretty still w/o much shifting around.....or then it becomes real fun! As usual.....the wind direction has to cooperate for this to work!

Gorgeous light and I like the posture of the head. Romanesque crop works well here.

Outstanding picture! I like the beautiful colors and the contrast between the sunlit bird and the dark background. Great pose. Sharpness and DoF are simply perfect.
