    Default American Avocet Foreplay

Here's a pair of American Avocets (at Gilbert Water Ranch in Phoenix) going through thier ritual posturing prior to "doing the deed". The female has assumed a position indicating her willingness to mate and the male is about to go through his part of the display...

Terrific behavior, perfect light, bg and fg!
Do you have more room below?
Since the water is so gorgeous and still, wonder how stunning a frame with the entire reflection would look like.

Jeff, wonderful colors and pose. You did a good job getting both subjects in focus.

For me the fact that they are touching - it looks like it - makes this image for me. Also the light here is awesome.

I have looked through a couple of your posts as I was curious about this camera body. Hmm something to think about. The IQ seems to be great. Looking to upgrade from the 7d.

Good low perspective Jeff, and well timed to capture these poses. I do like the complimentary colour in the BG too.

Beautiful all around Jeff. I love the way the left bird has its beak over the other one. And, of course, the lovely smooth colours. I think this could also work well as a vertical.

Love the combination of colours, with background reflected in the birds' feathers. Would love to see a vertical composition as well. Great use of flash, overall a striking image.
