I have a less tightly cropped version, that I could post, but since the subject is smaller in the frame (and the images are reduced in size a great deal for the web) details don't come through as well. I know about the head angle, but the bird did not cooperate. I also just noticed sharpening halos. How come it is always after I post the image? Comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

Hi William, I like the long curve formed on the back of the heron, together with the angled pose. With regards to the halos, you should be able to pick them up before posting.

Bill, this is another image that shows your style....I love these, I just wish this one had a bit more room in front of the bird, just a bit though. Leg details, the eye, the facial expression focused on prey...very nice.

Bill, The head angle doesn't bother me-this image is clearly showing behavior especially with that intense stare. I do think that it is way too tight in the frame but I see you already mentioned that. Beautiful details.

the extra room on the repost is better. Agree w Denise HA not a problem. I like the green algae at the base of the perch and beautiful background. what is the cause of the slight grainy appearance of the 'flank"

Bill, the negative space on the left in the re-post really helps this composition. I really like the position of the perch in the frame and the intense look on the heron. I'm also very much liking the dynamic element of this image. The angle of the bird's legs, head, and body really convey the feeling of "gathered and ready to strike", which adds interest to the image. Very well done.

Repost has a wonderful effect of giving "room for the stare" so to speak. Wonderful image and I love the detail, Bill.

Very nice, Bill. Great pose and I love the details. The extra room in the repost really adds to the "ready to pounce" feel of the heron. Well done!
