Default Straight Down the Barrel - Wood Stork.

A bit of an experimental crop here as the two birds' proximity to each other and main one's tall-slim pose made it a bit difficult in regular 3:2 ratio so I went to a vertical pano. I do wish for more separation between the two, but still like the overall effect. Interested in your thoughts...

Taken a little earlier in the day than my two previous images and got a very high SS this time. An odd one level-wise too as the ripples seem to lean one way, and the eyes alignment of the stork the other way!

I like this Dan, the stare on the right bird is wild, sharp and lovely colors. Looks like you had a fun time in Florida...TFS

    Daniel:

Another fun one. Good comments, and I do think the main subject is a bit CCW based on his lower legs. His head is tipped to his left, so can't really level it based on his eyes.

Nice exposure and sharp. I find it hard to get a lot of life in those eyes!
Agree that a smidge more separation would work better, but still nice.

I only have about 30 more from that session I would like to post, but I figure people are going to get really tired of our wood storks!

    Cheers

Agree that a step to left would have been nice but still a very nice and interesting composition.

Lovely light and I like the exposure.

I like the idea of a bit of cw rotation. Hard to get a reading on it but trying to line up some points on the reflections I think there may be a call for some.

Good idea and I like it.

Beautiful tones in this bird, and I like the oof bird in the background even without additional separation.

You've got a tough choice here - straighten for the eyes being level, or for the bird being vertical based upon the legs. I tried making the legs vertical in photoshop -- it cants the head a bit too much. So I think your leveling of the eyes works best for straight down the barrel...

Daniel I do like the exposure and detail of the front bird with a nice head on stare. You said it, a bit more seperation would have made the image but I like the idea of adding more interest to the image , so works fine IMO.

    Hey Daniel,
Can't believe I am going to say this....but if you have the room L and R....I would add it back in. The seperation between the 2 looks tighter because of the pano IMO. I love the sharp and OOF woodstork. I think the extra room will act as a vignette especially if it is anice a sthe rest of the waterNow that I think about it.....maybe just more on the right?

Hey Dan, you couldnt have captured this more straight on if you tried. I like the detail and sharpness on the head and bill, and feel Randy has it spot on with regards to rotation. Cheers.
