    Default Fort Desoto GBH

    Hi all,

I had an opportunity last week to do a pilgrim trip to Fort Desoto and couple of other famous locations in Florida.

Before even going thru all photos I took during the five days I stayed in Florida, I knew that this one will end up being one of my favorites. It's taken during the last morning (only calm one I had) at the North Beach lagoon. Photo is almost a full frame with canvas added slightly to top and left.

    Cheers,

    Mikko

Wow, so clean it almost looks faked.
In a way, the reflection is so clean and all there, and there is nothing else in the scene...the reflection competes with the subject for primary focus...
I think it needs more "context" to help soften it....or, it might be interesting to make the reflection the subject by cropping down the actual bird.

I am always hoping for a water this calm so I can get a fantastic reflection.....I haven't managed it yet.

Excellent shot and I like the composition. Tricky exposure on the head handled well.

The reflection along with the calm water really makes this image for me. I'm amazed there are no ripples around the leg area but it shows how patient these waders are waiting on a meal to swim by. I also like the light and colors. Excellent capture.

    Mikko,

Great image. Wonderful light. The sun angle looks perfect giving both form and feather detail.

You can get some sweet reflections at DeSoto on a calm morning. Nice bird, SH, and light. With the shimmer in the water the REFL falls a bit short of perfect (whatever that is) :)
