Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. We had been watching a family of elephants on and off all day, and this calf in particular was very feisty. Here he is giving us some mock charges, after having scared off his older cousins who obliged him by running away.

Hi Hilary, all looks pretty good to me. Nice flared ears, good foot position, good detail in the elephant, and all with warm earthy dry season tones. You did well to get one clear and in the open. Composition looks good too.
    cheers

Fantastic textures and colors....Colurs look great and the ears take the image over the top

I would have said that the colurs look odd, but I know that you have kindly told me that the dust colours in Lewa are like this.

My only nit would be perhaps a little more foot lift?

These little guys aren't easy to capture out in the open, well done too on a relatively clean BG.
They remind me of a rat on steroids!

Light soft, image sharp, colors pleasing, flared ears wonderful, and a nice clean animal. All that I would have wished for would have been that the animal were looking right at you.

Thanks Dumay, Ken, Marc & Artie.
Ken, yes colours are accurate for dust conditions.
Dumay, you are probably more familiar than I with these youngsters but I love the almost pristine look of their ears at this age, so unblemished.
Marc, never thought of rats but it does ring bells of recognition.
Artie, I'll have to hold out for eye contact next time.

Hilary this is super! The flared ears makes this exquisite...yes direct eye contact would have been exhilirating, but I would take this any day of the week. I like the dusty colours and nice textures you captured.

Hilary - this is too cute and the colors are super. The ear position is outstanding. I might like a tiny bit more space at the bottom to give more of the feel of getting ready to charge.

Excellent detail Hilary, and of course the flapping ears add interest. I like colour tone in this.
