    Default Hawk Overhead

I made this image a few weeks ago at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge in Upstate NY. I was practicing BIF and this one went right overhead.

1DMK2 with 500 F4 and 1.4 TC on tripod and sidekick. Evaluative metering with EV - 1/3 and ISO 200 F8 with 1/1250. Despite the 700mm this is still a 50% crop.

Thanks for looking. All input most welcome.

Nicely done. Very sharp. If only the bird had been looking to its right rather than to its left... The whites look a tad bright.

    later and love, artie

btw: juvenile Red Tailed Hawk is the species

Thanks for the comments. Artie, I am still learning the IDs so I really appreciate your help. Yes I can see that it can be toned down a bit. Thanks again.

Nice wing position and details. I agree regarding whites and head angle and the sky seems to have a slight magenta cast and is a bit noisy.

Very sharp and good composition, but I wish the bird had given you a better head angle. The whites are a hot, but Al's repost looks good. Nice capture.
