This funny fellow came from an outing with Capt. James. We (James, Roman,Daniel and I) were primarily out for spoonies, but it pays to keep an open mind.

Certainly does fit the theme. Really like the DOF here and how both eyes are lit up. Great job Mr. Stout.

Very loverly and I love the spray. I am betting that if you run the ruler tool through the pupils that it will need a healthy CCW rotation despite the fact that the far shoreline looks OK. The eyes never lie.

Nice job Randy! I really like it.

For what it's worth, I applied the ruler tool to the pupils of your bird as has been suggested. The result is attached.
I'll leave it to others to decide which image they think is better.

I do not agree with Artie on the ruler through the eyes. It might work in case the background is neutral, or with BIF. I rather look at the shoreline (if clearly visible) or use the waterline (where the body of the bird sits in the water) or ripples in the water as benchmark for a proper horizontal positioning. It might often be that the head angle (both eyes) is not perpendicular to the correct horizontal plane of the image.

In this case some CCW rotation is indeed necessary. Great spray image Randy.

In this case I must admit that I was cock-eyed (aka wrong!) Heck, it happens every few years. Thanks Norm!

I love this Randy, all water and feathers and bluster... Looks like it's motoring right at you! Super capture.

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

My wife thought it should be titled something like - "look out, I am coming through!"

Randy, I like the central placement of the pelican, and the flying droplets really add to the scene. I have to dissagree with Norm's repost. With the eyes level, the pelican is tilted left, and water is now falling away to the left too.

    Stuart, see Pane #9 .

Just to clarify, this bird is bathing. It is not going anywhere nor was it coming from anywhere :)

Great title Randy and OP looks good to me. As mentioned in the comments above love the water spray. Also like the feather detail. Good job on removing those birds with all that spray around.

Randy, terrific image. loved the low angle, head-on angle and the DOF. Excellent action frozen. Brown pelicans, with their light eyes, are indeed good candidates for head-on.
