Rare and not easy. I guess I was lucky to see this short tailed albatross at all. Sitting on the ground was the only opportunity. I used "mr Contrast in a layer and then brought the translucency down a bit, dulled some of the background. Not truly satisfied with this result, but it is the best I have done so far. The other shots there were easier to work with. I also had some fun and posted that in the Out of the box forum.

    Steve:

Really a neat bird, you have to love that face, cartoon material if I ever saw it.

Very difficult circumstances, between the harsh light and very busy background.

The body looks pretty sharp, but the head/neck looks too smoothed out, like NR run on it.

The biggest issue for me is the BG.

I will have to check out the OOTB version, as I think he has great potential there!

    Cheers

    Randy

I did not know that you had been there. Are you guys on this year's trip???? EXP and SH good. Much too tight in the frame, too contrasty, and the BKGR BOKEH is strangely distracting :)

    See you in Homer.
