Coots can be so much fun to watch; their territorial battles, the way they run on the water with those big lobed feet and the really homely, but cute chicks. C&C encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Very nice detail in the blacks and I love the raised foot pose. Not sure about the OOF strip of grass in the FG. Interesting to see one out of the water.

Love the raised foot and the sweet detail in the darks and the bill. The foreground grasses do not bother me a bit.

    Katie,

These guys are cartoon characters they look so silly....and beautiful. I too am a fan of the coot's feet. My favorite part of the coot is the ivory bill though.....or is it the red eye. Wonderful shot, by the way.

Katie, good low angle, and excellent exposure on the blacks. Good sharp detail on the plumage, and the raised foot adds interest.

Thanks Katie. Danny, I am with you on the ivory bills. I once had one that looked great with two 100% Linear Burns!

I've never actually seen a Coot's foot before.

The raised foot is a great detail you don't usually see...
