This is quite dramatic with that dark bg and the bird's rich yellow plumage. Exp, detail, sharpness and HA all great. I like this very much.

WOW Jim, this is a stunning image. Beautiful bird, pose, perch bg and detail. Congrats!
Nit pick: tone down the highlight in the upper leg.

    Jim,

This one explodes off the monitor. A sweet shot of an incredible little bird. Wow.

Love the yellows on this guy Jim, with good sharp feather detail. Pops nicely from the darker BG.

Another excellent image, perhaps my favorite, Pose, perch, EXP, and HA all perfect.

Can anyone see anything different in the repost here?

Thanks everyone for the comments. Arthur I think you toned down the yellows on the head. The repost is an improvement and thanks for your time.

Have you used your linear burn layers trick to do this Arthur?

I think the color is a little green overall.
Just a levels adjustment, desaturated yellows a touch, and slight high pass sharpening (maybe I should have skipped the sharpening)

Good eye Jim. Jim, Nick, I painted a Quick Mask of the crown and put it on its own layer. Then I added a 25% Blue Photo Filter and then added 10 points of Black to the Yellows in Selective Color (all only to the layer).

This restored significant detail to the crown. All as described in the brand new Digital Basics Update.

The colors look fine to me. You have made the BKGR too dark.

Another lovely image! I like Artie's repsot. Also agree that Steven's repost doesn't help this image at all.

Yeah, color/brightness is so very hard on the web.....I make sure I'm calibrated and that's the best I can do....

I almost always set the white and black points for an image. I find it really helps most pictures.
I used the lower part of the eye to set blackpoint and that resulted in the darker background. Easy enough to change if desired.

Yes, I got my Digital Basics Update the other day Arthur and very good it is too, just haven’t got to the bit as described above yet.
