    Default Oil Painting: Cactus Wren Portrait

    Hi Folks;

    This perky Cactus Wren loves getting up on a branch of the Arizona Ash in our garden. For one he is our State bird in Arizona, and his unique chatter is quite often used in horror movies as it lends to the spooky. :eek:

    This oil painting was done in free Fotosketcher and finished off from the extensive edge collection in MS Digital Image Suite 9.

    Cc's always welcome and greatly appreciated as a learning tool.

    Warm regards

    Gus

    Very nice, Gus! I love these guys when they show up in my backyard. They tend to drive the flocks of doves away from my feeders. I'm not familiar with the software you are using, but you have done a good job rendering the wren into an oil painting.

    Lovely, Gus! The colors complement the bird beautifully, and the painting effect is perfect!

    He looks a bit like the carolina wrens we have here. They never sit still for very long

    Gus,

    I love the pose... it's not often you see one photographed from behind. The painting effect is beautifully done as well.

    Beautiful pose Gus, I like the sharpness in the face area. I might tone down parts of the perch if it were mine. The painting effect really helped with the BG. Nice work!

    Great pose, Gus. I love the open bill and BG colors, and the painting effect is gorgeous as always. Agree with Denise on toning down the perch a little. Nice work!
