    Default Crowned Lapwing

Noisy birds as they fly past, the light was a bit bright and I wish the head was turned a little more towards me.

My first flight shots with newly acquired 100-400 and very pleased with it, very light and easy to use. This was handheld grab shot as they came flying past, almost FF.

    50D/100-400 @ 400 /f6.3@1/2000/iso640 - Manual mode - BG blur applied - cropped behind , added canvas in front.

That is one fine image - beautiful colours and detail, I like the composition too.

Overall, Lapwings are one of my favorites. You caught it all: spread wing, open bill, you can feel the speed, and a bonus catch light. TFS

A very nicely detailed BIF image and I can only wish to have that kind of skill with my 100-400. I like the calling pose.

Nicely captured to get the bird with the open bill like this.

Hi Pieter, congrats on your new toy. If this image is anything to go by, you have just upped your game big time. I like the flight posture, tack sharp, and I dont find the HA all that way off. Lovely complimentary BG too. Well done.

Great view of the wing markings, and I like the calling pose (I see what you mean about HA and agree). A few post-processing artefatcs need tidying up...see around feet especially.

I'm glad you are enjoying the 100-400...I love mine! Very versatile.
