    D3, 200/400 lens, 1.4 teleconverter@1/1250, 5.6, & iso 320. I had a real tough time attaining focus on bird, as the bg was almost exact same color as owl. Even without the teleconverter, I was still having a tough time locking focus.

    Oops, look Like I forgot jpeg, guess I have to wait 24.

    You don't have to wait. Edit your original post, go to 'advanced' and attach the image. Let me know if you need help.

    Nice job catching this little guy! In a perfect world the owl would be higher into the dark BG or lower into the brown rather than splitting the two zones. That said, I don't have a single image of one of these owls in flight so you're ahead of me :D

    I can only echo what Jim said. I've quite any number of blurry burrowing owl flight shots. Keep up the good work and soon you'll be in Jim Neiger territory.

    Wish that the flight angle and light angle were better, but it is really tough to get these little owls in flight. Raising your ISO would have been effective here.

    Thx Linda, thats a thought, I was thinking it was dof thing, as I was wide open.
