Grant, you make great environmental images. The eye contact here is fantastic and like Morkel I love the rippled reflections. The pp looks pretty good here.

I agree, good Rule of Thirds placement of the vertical column of lions entering the water. Love the look of the water and the expression of the lead lions.

Agree with the other comments here, the attention of the leading female and associated reflections really enhance this fine habitat image Grant.

Great grouping in the water and trailing line from the shore. I also like the hint of uneasiness from the group (crocs in theses waters or just natural instincts?)

Hi everyone, thanks so much for the comments. Steve, they usually get a bit nervous at the threat of crocs, as you noted. They all tried to follow behind the boldest, lead lioness. Happy that all like the composition so far. The IQ is just okay on the original raw image, as I struggled somewhat with 50D IQ on gloomy days. Thank you again for taking the time to look and comment
    cheers

The 'Thirds rule' is your friend and can build and excellent, yet strong composition, as illustrated here.

The slightly overcast conditions have help with the highlights that might have occurred in the water, with a nice depth to it. I guess they are not following each other in a 'crocodile' manner. The stare of the front three tells a story, but it's the middle one squeezing her head between the two I like, saying 'let me see'.
