Taken early today at Anhinga, for some reason there was not much going on out there today, not even photographers were out there.

Experimenting with fill flash, any good?

    Nikon d200
    Nikon 300mm f/4 w/1.4tc
    Focal length 420mm
    Fstop 5.6
    Shutter 1/80
    Exposure Comp -0.3ev
    iso 400

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

hey oscar. were you using the onboard flash of a speedlight? the flash looks a tad hot. i never used my onboard but i hear they can be harsh. maybe dial down the flash compensation a bit.

where are the pelican pics? i love the big, dumb, goofy birds!!

    Hi Oscar,
Your bird is too hot... You need to dial down your speedlight... also the bird is looking away from you. I would be better if his head were turned more towards you. Placement of bird on frame is good...

    :cool:Oscar,
I would also clone out the blade of grass on the birds top side, and the rear blade of grass touching his body...:D

Gus, once again thank you. But remember, all the things that you are doing and asking me to do to my pictures, I can not yet do in ps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully I'll start to get better as I go along. In the mean time, keep fixing them for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks

hey oscar, just dive in!!! as long as you are shooting in RAW, you cant mess up the pic. you can always revert back to the original file!! good luck with the learning curve. i'm sure it will be fun!!

Got rid of the cast and cropped some from bottom !!! I like the classic pose but I feel you need a cleaner bg With these guys this is what you normally get Was he just past the boardwalk turning left? Oscar birds with clean bg are very difficult to find and btw the HAD police will get you for this one !!!
