After seeing my friend Ofers excellent shot of the Black-winged Stilt taken in Australia
I'd post the species we have here in the USA. These and the American Avocets are a stunning species to see and photograph.

    James:

Elegant presentation for an elegant bird. Nice angle in frame, shooting angle, soft background. Like the subtle green sheen in feathers.

The slight darkness on the whites of the shoulder, just a bit dirty, or is this an age related finding?

    Cheers

    Randy

A unique looking bg which complements the nice soft colours in bird very well.

    Nicely done.

A very simple and peaceful composition and bird seems to be perfect size in frame.

    Very well done.

Sweet James. I love the pink legs against the pastel blue water. Nice composition. And, as usual, technicals are spot on.

Very nice, James. I love the texture/pattern on the feathers towards its tail.

Those pink legs always stand out in a good composition, as this is.

    Great picture, James.
I like the nice head turn eye contact and the irridescent feathers. The water looks great too.

What, no bird in flight??? I am stunned. You used the soft light to your advantage capturing both the red eye and the plumage colors.
