    Hi all,

This is the first in a series of photos I'll show over the next few days as a way of saying thanks to those who helped with a query I made last week in the General Discussion forum about photographing at an airshow.

It was my first time at an airshow, and definitely won't be the last. Was great fun and an amazing learning curve trying to photograph something completely new.

I hope I've done justice to them all.

This image is of an F/A 18F Super Hornet in a high G force turn. What a machine!!

    cheers, Dean

Great shot. Was this taken from the ground? What lens?

Thanks John. Yes, this was taken from the ground right at the front of the public viewing area (i got there real early and scoped out the best spot, even asking one of the media photogs who'd worked the show before where to stand...helps to ask the right people nicely at times!).

This image was taken with Canon 7D, 500 f4 IS and 1.4x TC, ISO 200, TV mode, 1/2500s, f/5.6.

    Cheers, Dean

Very nice, Dean. I'm looking forward to our local biannual airshow in 2 weeks at Luke AFB. The USAF Thunderbirds will be there and I hope they'll have a Raptor in the air.

Well executed. Glad to see you decided to lug the 500 with you.

The vapor really makes this shot. I was shooting an F/A-18 this weekend, but no vapor :( . The plane looks much more static without it.
