    Default Cherrie's Tanager

    This was taken in Costa Rica. I had trouble exposing this tanager, either the blacks were too dark or the beak and rump were overexposed. I like the setting in this one even though the quality isn't the best. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

    Jim:

    I like the BG, red rump patch and matching eye color.
    As mentioned, not the very best IQ.
    The perch is nice although I would prefer to not have the two smaller leaves that block his legs and abdomen.

    That little tuft of red on the back really is an eye puller.

    Quite a nice looking bird. I think that the background is beautiful. I could see this with a small crop from the left (as viewed). Your exposure looks good to me. Not sure if possible but perhaps a bit of fill flash might have livened up the blacks a bit?

    A challenging subject but it is a beautiful bird and the composition is very nice Jim thanks for sharing.

    Great perch and eye. Like the comp and bg. IMG is well exposed with good colours
