Just a basic Burrowing Owl image, but these guys are irresistible and I liked the portly form to this guy. Also nice of it to stand on higher ground for a good look at the feet!

Canon 1D MKIV + 100-400L + 1.4TC @490mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/160s., f/9, ISO 800, -0.7 EC, handheld (lying flat on on ground), natural light, FF. A bit of uneveness filled-in along top edge via clone tool.

You did a great job of choosing the perfect perspective here. Techs perfect too. And yes to portly :)

    Was this an IPT-bird?

Very nice image! Excellent techs and great eye contact. I would consider cropping a bit off the top although I can see why you chose to leave this beautiful green.

    Daniel:

Too many grass hoppers for this dude! Was this on the last afternoon at the nest where he flew in?

Crawling around on your belly gave this one very nice perspective, nice techs!

    Cheers

Nice image, great that there is a clear view of entire bird, not easy with all the ground stuff typically around the holes. They are cute, was this taken in Cape Coral?

Lovely image, Daniel. So nice of him to pose on higher ground with a superb expression and a great bg.
I actually like the subject placement and the space above and below

Cape Coral is the general location. My SW FLA Site Guide includes locations for lots of reliable spots with habituated birds. Our store is down right now or I would have provided a link :)
