Early morning light at Ding Darling NWR. This RE was very active, dancing, fishing, eating. Great fun to watch.

    Techs: 1DM3, 500 mm, ISO 400, f/8, 1/2500 sec.

Post: Cropped, cleaned up a few specular spots on lower mandible.

    C&C appreciated.

    Very nice!
    How close were you?

Looks like a little sensor dust in the lower right....even if it's not, I think it would look just a little cleaner edited out.

I like the intimacy of the image and the overall idea but I would like to see more of the shoulder and the reflection (and better HA). I love the low angle and the water action and the fact there is a prey item to see.

I like the action you captured here. The prey really adds to the image.

Daniel, in the repost I've included more of the shoulder and reflection: cropped, slight contrast tweak, NR applied, USM 135/0.25. Also cloned out the LR dust speck on ORIG. Repost is not as intimate as ORIG but the reflection makes a more artistic presentation. Thanks for the suggestion.

I thought showing the full reflection might be beter, but IMO it's not....I really preferred the intimacy of the original post.

I also prefer the intimacy of the original.

I prefer the composition in the original however, IQ is not great due to what looks like a serious crop.

The repost is wider than what I had in mind. This is closer to my first train of thought, but I may end up preferring your OP's crop after all:

Hi Keith I also prefer your OP , great action and water splash. Might even consider a crop from the bottom ti emphasise the intamacy.
