This was taken at a set-up in Costa Rica. Cloned out dark area in BG above the bird. All C&Cs are appreciated.

Beautiful shot Jim. I love the colors on the bird and the sharpness. I may have cropped some more from top and right side if it was mine. TFS

Wonderful bird and capture he just jump right off the screen when i open the thread. While I like the original the tighter crop has even more impact.

Taking the eye out of the centre improved an already great image. I love tanagers and this is certainly a great one. Did you also do some work on the left of the perch in the repost? It is different and it looks better.

Jim - what a great shot of an amazing species. I too just spent time in CR and was most surprised by the variety of tanagers such as this one. You did a great job of catching the colors and detail in this species. Also a very nice pose - although a common one with these birds that are always coming to the fruit feeders Cropping and composition is always a personal thing, but if it was mine I would try cropping a bit off the bottom. And seeing all of the tail might have been preferable for me. But that is getting a bit picky for a shot of this calibre.

Ben I touched up the perch in the repost. In the original there was some left over banana that I missed. Thanks for the comment.

Never have seen one of these; where did you find it? Very sharp, nicely exposed, and great eye contact. The repost looks better IMO.
