This guy was dancing all around the first pool at Ding Darling and put on quite a pugilistic show to liven up an overcast day.

    Techs: 1DM3, 500 mm x 1.4xTC, ISO 800, EC +1.67: f/5.6, 1/500 sec.

    C&C appreciated.

    Keith:

I like reddish egrets a lot, great characters, fun to watch. Good timing, like the fish, the layered, separated primaries on the right wing.

I find the reflections from the water and feathers detract a bit. In the repost, I tried to tone the reflections down a bit, show a bit more color in the water and detail in the bird. You can do a better job on the raw file.

You were there, so get to make the call.

    Cheers

    Randy

Hi Keith, nice action captured here. These guys are a riot to watch. sharp and well exposed. Would only hope for a lower angle. TFS

Randy, I like your repost very much from an artistic viewpoint, although in reality the heavy overcast gave less saturated water colors. Since the RE uses shadow as a hunting technique, I actually wanted to use even more reflections but clipped off the bottom too much. Thanks very much for working on my image.

    Keith:

Since the reflection you had in the original was weak, I went ahead and cropped further, but I agree, if you can get a really good reflection to show the hunting tech., that is great.

You have to go with your recollection, I just thought the bird looked too washed out.

    Look forward to more!

    Cheers

    Randy
