First time out today in a long time since winter is still hanging on. Only -2 C today and sun shining from a clear blue sky but after a couple of hours outside your feet start to feel like bits of ice anyway.

This image was taken at a feeder in a small wood. He was mainly interested in a bit of frozen pork and I have some (reasonable) images from him eating but unfortunately I don't feel that most people will enjoy seing them .

    Nikon D300, 500 mm, ISO 400, f/4, 1/60 sec, center-weighted, aperture priority and flash at -1 ev.

All C&C appreciated. Looks like the whites are blown here but they sure wasn't until I exported.

hey Svante, really nice detail on the woodpecker. the layers of white feathers show really well. beautiful green background too. the whites don't look blown on my monitor. really nice natural looking flash work too!

Lovely to see this great bird. The reds are amazing- I think they are a bit clipped by the look of them. I like the background and the woodpecker in front of the tree hides what is often over-powering element in woodpecker images. For my taste the bird is a little tight in the frame. Also I see a blueish cast to the image which could be removed in Photoshop.
