They sure can contort their necks in ways that seem impossible!! I like the sense of cold isolation you got here, but some additional improvements were called for IMO. First I levelled the image using the ruler tool trick, then reduced the yellows and the cyans on the white channel in "Selective Color", then added light to the midtones via "Levels", a bit of dodging on the darker part of the swan. Some of the whites could probably go brighter still. Sounds like alot, but once you get used to PS it only takes a couple of minutes to fine-tune an image. Hope you like it!
