I was out the other day with my macro lens when I saw these cardinals in conflict. I know

the bg is aweful and the birds are not to sharp but this is about the best flight shot that

I have. Would you just delete this are is there processing to make this better?

Nikon D700, 105mm micro, f4.5, 1/1000, iso 400. Large crop. Adjusted white balance,

small vibrance, saturation, clarity in acr, usm in cs3

I don't delete any photos even if they are "bad" for two reasons: 1) Documentary 2) Reference material in learning "what went wrong"

I don't think postprocessing can achieve to much with neither the foreground or the background but I still think it is a very interesting image and I really like the blurry wings and I am not to disturbed by the busy surroundings. I would never delete this image.

these are pretty amazing. I have trouble at times tracking ducks and geese much less these little guys haha!

I like the birds in flight, those are really well captured. If you feel the background is too busy, why not crop in closer to the two birds, taking away the tree on the right and the bright, distracting leaf to the left?

Thank you for responding Rachel. This is already a large crop; this is about 30% of the original. If

I cropped any more I am afraid the quality would be so degraded that it would not be worth viewing.

Pretty amazing wing positions on both males.

I think, if you don't want to crop further, I'd try to blur some of the FG and BG, darken the sunny areas in the FG and BG, and clone out the vertical and diagonal branches behind the RH bird, to make the focus much more on just the birds.
