Love the birds, the detail, and the setting is very nice, but the plumes and large portions of the right-hand bird look very odd to me. The amount of gray showing just doesn't look natural. I can't explain why very well, but it's almost as if either the contrast was cranked way up in those spots or too much shadow recovery was attempted. When some of the PP wizards can weight in more constructively.

Thanks for commenting, Paul. I don't really understand what you're seeing on the RH bird. I actually used very little PP and it looks pretty natural to me, but I'll wait to see what others think.

Ian, there is a lot to like in this image, but I agree with Paul on the grey: the birds should be white but aren't. To me it looks like the sort of muted white/grey that you get if you go too far in S/H. But other than that: very nice image.

Very sweet Ian. Beautiful water and light. My eye is pleasantly drawn to the plumes on the left hand bird. Wish the right hand bird had a better head angle. For the wall I would clean up the spots in the water and I may try a CCW rotation.

I very much like the gold and white. Nice composition, I may back off on the S/H and make the birds a bit whiter.

Lovely image as far as I am concerned and I don't see any problems with the whites. I would possibly increase the blur in the background a bit.

I went in and played a little with the 'grey' to see if I could make it better. I essentially used no s/h on this one. I'm not sure I see much difference, but what do you think? (I also did a little CCW rotation).
