    Nice comp. and detail. Light seems a bit harsh. Might try to tone down the gorget just a bit. It seems very hot and over saturated as well.

    Jan,

    I agree that the saturation needs to be brought down some.

    Nice perch and positioning in frame. Head turn away from you would have gotten a better beak position. Notice that critical sharpness occurs at the body and branch. You want it at the head/eye. If you are using all the focusing points, this can happen. You need to select a point at the eye, or focus at the eye, lock AF, recompose and make image.

    Agree with Joe and Robert. I like the composition but the lack of critical focus is my biggest issue here. Looks as if the light was quite harsh.

    Robert has summed it up nicely Jan...the head and beak are just not sharp enough for me here...lovely birds though and I envy you having these in your garden there where you live :)

    Harsh light and focussing pointed out. I'd also tone down the perch. Lovely bird, and you did well to go to a vertical composition.

    Nice subject Jan. The focus as mentioned is on the feet and perch. I would also remove some BG noise as well.
