Default Straight Down the Barrel - Juvie Brown Pelican

From Artie's great pelican spot where many of them come by to feed on fish scraps, or bait. If lucky you can get both browns and whites mingle together...great for size and behaviour comparisions.

This younger individual was gliding in for some of the action. I tried a version with it lower in the frame but wasn't quite satisfied with the result, and I kinda likle the blue at bottom here. Full frame lenght-wise and cropped top and bottom.

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @320mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/7.1, ISO 400, +1 EC, handheld.

    Daniel:

This nicely shows the tremendous wing span these guys have. I think the framing works well, with the birds right wing on the diagonal .
    Sharp, well exposed.

    Cheers

Pano comp. works well on this one. The right wing diagonal gives the image some dynamics as well. Light looks very nice and exposure seems to be spot on. Fine image all around.

Daniel, It was a great spot for Pelicans. I like the composition and the sharp details.

I like the left (as viewing) wing diagonal as opposed to the right wing horizontal positioning. To me that positioning makes the image. Like the BG too Daniel.
