    Ramesh;

Striking owl, nice sized perch, intense stare, nice background

I wish the illumination was more even. The sun appears to have been well to your left and fairly high, casting some shadows. the eye shadows are of particular concern. When possible, working with the sun over your shoulder gives more even lighting.

Fill flash might have helped fill in some of the shadows.

    Cheers

A horned owl with lateral horns !
Interesting en face view with good feather detail and look. Perfect would have been both eyes equal and right eye a little brighter but great as is.
Did you do some cloning work in right upper corner ? Also location would be nice just for my interest.

    Well Randy,
I too Wish That was the case about the lighting.
But when in the Tiger Reserves Or National Parks in India It is not permitted to go off road or To Get off the Vehicle. So we do what best we can. I wished the light was behind me but Cant help it.

    Ramesh:

Probably not a good idea to be wandering around with tigers about!

Is flash allowed? That would have helped.

I would have taken the picture too under the circumstances, but am always trying to be aware of the light and optimize it when possible.

    Cheers

    Hello Randy,

Actually they say no flash. well people do fire their flashes off their point and shoots. but i did not carry a flash. Firstly and honestly I do not have one and plan to get one soon. And secondly I Have to learn the technique of fill flash yet. So...
Thanks for the suggestions. I am in the process of procuring a flash and a better beamer. And am studying the same

I do like this image Ramesh. Nice pose with good eye contact and lovely detail in the feathers. Good points mentioned by Randy. In most of our parks we are not allowed out of our vehicles either so I will have to learn the use of flash in ccertain conditions.

This is a wonderful image of a beautiful bird, and if you feel the shadows detract from the image you can do an S&H adjustment and some selective burning and dodging. I DL'd the image and played with it in PS, and some quick editing improved the photo significantly.

Impressive bird. Fill-flash would have improved. Well done.

    Remesh.

I'll break with the other views about the light and say this image is a breath of fresh air! The light is wonderful. The gives color, form and texture, so often missing with BPN bird posts. Beautiful!

I'll be discussing this image more in the general photography thread:
