This is my first post--hope I am doing this correctly. An image from last year taken at a pond near my home in South Louisiana. Canon Rebel XT with 100-400mm lens.

The diffuse light coming through the flight feathers is beautiful and the delicacy of the breeding plumage is outstanding. I see you were at f/6.3 at 260mm. The funky bokeh of the 100-400 is noticeable but not obnoxious. I wish the branches on the left were cut back but that falls under the heading of, "Coulda, shoulda, woulda, oughta!" You make the picture as presented. If she lands there regularly, perhaps you can cut back the branches when she's not there. :D BTW, I noticed you had resized to 750 pixels. The forum allows 800 pixel width.

    HI Kathy !!!

Lee is right on with this image !!!! Wish you had more room bottom and right Also crop some from the left Light is very good and do like the feather reproduction A slight head angle would have been nice !!!

Might select the bg and blur some A slight treatment of gaussian blur should do it !!

The lighting, and pose of the bird is flat out wonderful!

Agree with previous posts on critique. Love that bird!
