    Default iPad 2 announced today

The iPad 2 was announced today. Some noteworthy improvements, slimmer, lighter.
    A faster processor.

No SD card slot, or USB port unfortunately.

    Same pricing structure as original.

Same screen, not the rumored retina screen of the iphone.

    Cheers

    Randy

I'm fascinated with the iPad but don't need one. Without the SD card slot or USB port, just how do you load images, etc. to it?

    Lana,

You can use this conection kit:

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A
    http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/01/27...port-adapters/

With his kit you can use SD card or conect the camera to an usb port conector...

To tranfer to Macbook pro or any pc, uou use the cable that comes with the i-Pad, to an hard drive, I dont know if you can tranfer directly or if you have to put it first on computer...

My understanding is you can use iTunes to transfer images from another drive to the iPad.
I have seen mostly landscape images on an iPad, and they look fabulous.

Thanks for the information. Interesting.....I never thought of iTunes as a source of transfer for images. Geez.....now I just might have to go get one.

Another option is the Xoom. I probably will get either that or the iPad.

Just give Apple another 12 months and iPad 3 will be out maybe with USB ports.

I know iTunes works, b/c I have a portfolio of images on my iPod that I loaded via iTunes (I just don't have an iPad yet).

I have the iPad 1; I absolutely positively beyond a shadow of a doubt - love it!!

It does mean I am carrying a shoulder bag all of the time now.

Anyway, I am waiting on iPad 3 which I am bettin' will be out before Xmas and hopefully will have the USB port. Unless the next generation is a super upgrade I like to skip generations. In this case there is nothing about the iPad 2 that requires me to upgrade from the iPad 1.

    The connection kit does work.

iTunes is easiest. I have created an iPad Picture Sync folder into which I copy the images I want to display on my iPad. In iTunes Photos I only sync my designated folder.
    Cheers, Jay
