I think this is a chipping sparrow. The bg is lit by the very early sun, the bird was in shade.

This is at a setup, cropped about 50%. Is the bg too bright? Thanks to all of you who give

    me advice.

beautiful bird, wonderful bg and i love that perch. perhaps if the bg were darker, or less saturated it would not draw the eye away from the bird as much?

Love the colors, the bird really stands out from the BG. For me, too much vegetation. Somewhat soft on my screen.

Really like color in the background here, I also think the color of the perch match well with bird too. Compare to the bird the perch maybe a bit too big but it's okay since the perch looks unique (at least to me). Agree about the image being a bit soft, sharpen the image up should help.

Beautiful image design! Live the perch background and bird. I agree the image is a bit soft but I think another round of sharpening on the subject will do the trick.

The way you composed this image is just outstanding, Jack! Nice HA, details, and the background is just awesome. I really like how the perch colors compliment the colors on the bird. Nicely done!

Thanks everyone for your input. The perch is last years' seed pod from a madonna lily.
