    Default EXIF

I hope this is the correct forum for this question.

I just got extension tubes to use with my macro lens. Question: Is this information recorded in the exif info on the file? I don't see it. If not, how do I know which images used extension tubes and which didn't.

    I shoot with a Nikon D300 and a Sigma 105mm macro.

    Thanks!!

Whenever I use extention tubes the exif info does not show that the tube(s) were used nor do I believe it is information that is recorded digitally anywhere (Canon + Kenko, but I believe the same is true for Nikon). I just have to remember which one(s) I used.

    Anita,
In order for the camera to know there is an extension tube in place, the extension tube would need electronics that would take the data from the lens and add the extension tube length then pass it on to the camera. I'm not aware of any extension tube that does that; rather they are just pass through wires. An extension tube with electronics would cost a lot more too.
