    This is a Grey Headed Gull captured in early morning light last winter. These gulls gather at a wetlands close to Johannesburg International Airport. Added a touch of canvas to the top.

    Canon 50D
    100-400 @ 400mm
    1/3200
    F/5.6
    ISO 800

    Nice work Stuart!

    You have a sharp, beautiful bird here with great eye contact. But I would like it even more if the wings were not raised quite so high. And while that early morning light is indeed sweet, I might cautiously try to brighten the wings just a touch if I were you.

    Wonderful open beak, flight pose, detail and ha. I can just hear him now. Agree that a bit of brightness on the wings wouldn't hurt.

    With regards to exposing the wings a touch more, I actually did that just before saving.
